Katherine Dowdney is a founding member of Moving Women. She studied dance and theatre at the College of Charleston with Evan Perry and Eliza Ingle. While in Charleston, she performed with Anonymity Dance Company in the Spoleto Festival 2001-2004 and studied dance and Pilates under Pamela O’Briant and Jocelyn Nugent. Katherine attended the American Dance Festival in 2001 and studied with Lisa Race, David Dorfman, Andrea Woods, and Pamela Pietro. Katherine performed the lead female role in the original production “The Wait” in Piccolo Spoleto 2002. She returned to the College of Charleston after graduation to choreograph and create a second “choreo-play” entilited “a day..”. Katherine was a member Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre from 2005-2007. She traveled with ACDT to Merida, Mexico to perform “Frida” in December 2006. Katherine is a certified yoga instructor, a Peak Pilates instructor and an ACE certified personal trainer. She has received additional training in experiential anatomy, post rehab specialist, pre/post natal Fusion Pilates, Sadhana Chi yoga, therapeutic yoga for seniors and children’s yoga. Mrs. Downdey completed her second Pilates certification from Balanced Body University in 2008. She served as fitness and wellness director at the Biltmore Forest Country Club for 4 years and currently has her own pilates/corrective exercise studio in South Asheville.
